ARCHIVE - August 10, 2008

Well, I knew I would, but it's official....I love California! The weather is amazing, the view is amazing, the progressive community is amazing. Love it!

We're still getting settled into our place. We've been here a little over a week, and there is still stuff everywhere. We sold our car before we moved here, so we signed up for a community car share. Have you guys heard about these? Apparently it's only around $25 a year plus $5 an hour and 40 cents a mile. You basically sign up online as to when you want the car then you have your little key and go. Gas and insurance are included too. We get our keys sometime this week, so once that happens I'll be able to do a big o' shopping trip to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to get all sorts of storage shelving to put away all our stuff. It will feel better once all this crap is put away. Then I can just concentrate on putting up pictures and decorating.

It would be perfect if I could find a friend that has a child around Colin's age. He isn't really on the same level as the other kids in the building, so it would be nice to find him a friend.

Josh is still a great baby although he isn't the best nurser. He just gets so fussy when he has gas AND he wants to eat. Not fun for either one of us. Besides that, he's a cutie. His expressions are just about the funniest thing ever.

I've made lots of great purchases so far. Today I bought a Tivo!!! I'm very excited about this. I was so bummed when I found out our cable (which is luckily included in our rent) doesn't have DVR. It's the standard cable package that the university has, and that's what we are stuck with. And I have to record Mr. Rogers for Colin (his favorite show of all time!). We also got a really nice desk off of Craigslist. The sellers were so sweet, they delivered it to us and helped us put it together (it was a disassembled Ikea desk). We also bought an entertainment center and a small rolling cart off of Craigslist. We'll pick those up when we get our car next week. Still on the look out for an ottoman/coffee table. We learned our lesson to not get a wooden coffee table after Colin hit his head on it multiple times. We just want something soft, preferably with storage, and a hard top surface. I also need a new jogging stroller. Our old one was worn out and we sold it before we moved.

ARCHIVE - June 22, 2008

After 4 years of being the mom of Colin, today is the last day I'll be just his mom. I'll have Josh tomorrow. So tomorrow, I'll be the mom of Colin AND Josh. I actually think I'm going to handle being a mom of a baby again fairly well. It was such a crazy, emotional ride with baby Colin, that I'm ready for anything. I can take it....bring it on colic gods and ear infection spirits. We can handle it!! And how cool is it that Josh and my hero Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy) will be sharing a birthday? I'm hoping my kids learn to appreciate his work and just plain awesomeness like I do. It is just such a different feeling this time around. No stress, no surprises....I'm so looking forward to seeing him, and more importantly seeing Colin hold him! It will melt my heart melt. Here is a picture taken tonight of me and my two little babies. A little out of focus, but it's a keeper!
